International Overview

The International Resource Center at the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids supports governments and non-governmental organizations around the world in promoting and implementing public policies that are proven to reduce tobacco use.

Tobacco use will kill one billion people worldwide this century unless the nations of the world act now to save lives. Tobacco now claims five millions lives each year; that number is projected to double by 2020, with 70 percent of these deaths in developing nations.

Our work is focused on low- and middle-income countries where more than two-thirds of the world's smokers live, including the following 15 countries with high burdens of tobacco use:


Organizations and governments from priority countries and other low and middle-income countries around the world are eligible for funding from the Resource Center.
