حقائق مهمة
- قتل التدخين مائة مليون شخص في القرن العشرين واذا ما إستمرت الاتجاهات الحالية فإنه سيقتل مليار شخص في القرن الحادي والعشرين.2
- يدخن السجائر ما يقرب من مليار الرجال (35 في المئة في البلدان المتقدمة و 50 في المئة في البلدان النامية) و 250 مليون امرأة (22 في المئة من النساء في البلدان المتقدمة و 9 في المئة في البلدان النامية) . 3
- اذا تستمر الاتجاهات الحالية فإن 650 مليون شخص على قيد الحياة اليوم في نهاية المطاف سيموتون من الامراض المرتبطة بالتبغ.4
- في جميع انحاء العالم أكثر من 15 مليار سيجارة تدخن كل يوم.5
- كل يوم ما بين 80 و100 ألف شباب من جميع انحاء العالم يصبحوا مدمنين على التبغ. اذا ما إستمرت الاتجاهات الحالية فإن 250 مليون طفل على قيد الحياة اليوم في نهاية المطاف سيموتون من الامراض المرتبطة بالتبغ.6
- تستهلك الصين أكثر من 30 في مائة من سجائر العالم و حيث يدخن تقريبا 70 في مائة من الذكور. البلدان الخمسة الأكثر إستهلاكا للسجائر هي : الصين و الولايات المتحدة و الروسيا و اليابان و اندونيسيا. 7
- فيليب موريس و التبغ البريطانية الامريكية و تبغ اليابان في العالم هي اكبر ثلاث شركات تبغ متعددة الجنسيات. 8
- في عام 2004 أحرز فيليب موريس حوالي السدس من سوق السجائر في العالم الذي يعمل في 160 بلدا ببيع السجائر التي تزيد قيمتها على 57 بليون دولار. 10
- الصين اكبر منتج السجائر و يليها الولايات المتحدة. 11
