About Us

The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids is a leader in working to reduce tobacco use and its devastating health and economic consequences in the United States and around the world.

A non-governmental organization based in Washington, D.C., the Campaign works with many partners to:

  • Inform governments, the public and the media about the many harmful effects of tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke.
  • Support the adoption of science-based measures that reduce tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke.
  • Share best practices and information with our partners to ensure efforts to reduce tobacco use are as effective as possible.

Global Leadership

Internationally, the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids has advocated for the tobacco control treaty, the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC).

The Campaign is a founding member of the Framework Convention Alliance (FCA), a coalition of more than 350 non-governmental organizations from more than 100 countries that was formed to support the treaty negotiations and ensure its proper implementation.

The Campaign has been designated as one of five partner organizations to coordinate activities under the Bloomberg Initiative to Reduce Tobacco Use, working with governments and non-governmental organizations to implement effective measures to reduce tobacco use.

The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids has been honored for its leadership in international tobacco control. On July 14, 2006, the American Cancer Society presented the Campaign with the Luther L. Terry Award for Exemplary Leadership in Tobacco Control.

These awards are presented every three years at the World Conference on Tobacco or Health.
